Charities and Third Sector

Unlike many insurance brokers providing services to the third sector, we operate on an entirely independent basis, meaning we can access various insurers who specialise in the sector, as well as engaging the full range of our commercial insurance contacts.

We have experience of dealing with various types of organisation including charities, not-for-profit organisations, social enterprises, community interest companies, clubs and associations, amongst many others.

The activities we are able to cover embrace:

  • Provision of care
  • Arts, sport and culture
  • Fundraising activities
  • Provision of advice and support
  • Respite centres
  • Rehabilitation facilities

As with our approach to all insurance programs we do not believe that off-the-shelf solutions are always capable of providing appropriate cover. Through our dealings in this sector we have found that many specialist ‘charity’ insurance products focus too much on the legal status of the entity and offering a ‘one size fits all’ solution, and not enough on the fundamental risks that organisations face, and the factors that make them unique.

This can lead to clients having ‘specialist’ cover that provides for their needs in respect of Trustees Liability insurance, but contains fundamental flaws in the basic covers, such as Business Interruption – the very cover that will keep the organisation in existence in the event of a major incident at their premises. More importantly, this is the cover that will ensure the charity is still able to provide for its service users.
